We have an exciting weekend planned for Friday 11/08 through Sunday 11/09. We will be camping at our traditional Camp McKee campsite #5 this weekend and it's for the WHOLE family. Bring the parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents. They should all get to experience wonderful Camp McKee and campsite #5. On Saturday will be working around the campsite and making improvements to the site like solar lights in the outhouses and wash area, painting signs, spreading gravel, moving some tent decks and putting in hammock posts for six to eight hammocks. Most exciting is we are cooking Thanksgiving dinner camp style! Deep fried turkey, smoked turkey, dutch oven stuffing, firepit baked potatoes, and whatever you or your family wants to bring. Please RSVP to David Sanders ASAP so we can plan food for the dinner.
We will be directing parking and traffic for Military Missions on 11/07/2019 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Kentucky National Guard Armory, which is at 4301 Airport Rd, Lexington 40510. If parking is not your thing, you can help unload boxes or fill the individual gift boxes. The Armory is basically behind the Airport near the intersection of Parkers Mill Rd and Airport Rd. We need ALL Scouts and Crew to attend to help with parking, gift boxes and then to help unload their trucks at their store in Millpond Center next to the Boston Rd. Kroger's. Bring the whole family, there will be something for everybody to do. For those that have not done this before there will be several hundred people (and cars) that come help make shoe-box size gift boxes filled with treats, games, personal items, etc. that are sent overseas at Christmas and throughout the year to our Men and Women serving in the Armed Forces. This is a really great service project that needs support from all Scouts, Crew, and their families. Please attend. If you have any questions please contact David Sanders, Todd Willey, or Mike Foster.
