No meeting on Memorial Day (5/31/21). We will meet on Thursday to pack for the Campout at McKee during the weekend.

We will be camping at campsite 5 from 6/4/21-6/6/21. We will be showing the New scouts how to set up a campsite and we will also be showing the new scouts around camp. We will also be working on the camp site to improve it for summer camp. Cost is $10.

We are placing flags in section c for Memorial Day at Camp Nelson National Cemetery from 5-7pm on Thursday (5/27/21) . Meet at the Main house at the back of the cemetery. Please wear the full uniform.

On May 9th from 11:20am-6:30pm he will be holding a service day for my eagle project. We will be building benches for the benefit of a nonprofit school that works to help kids connect with the outdoors called Red Oaks Forest School.
​ We will meet up at the scout house front yard around 11:20 and leave at 11:30. We will also provide a ride for any scout that needs one.
The schools address is 200 Punkin hollow road. If you you get lost plug it into your GPS. If you need written directions let me know. If you intend to meet us at the school without stopping at the scouthouse please plan to arrive around 12:30.
The area we will be working in is slightly wooded so I would recommend bringing bug spray. I would also recommend bringing work gloves and tough shoes. You must wear a mask unless you are actively eating/working. Dinner will be provided.
There is a bit of a drive from the scouthouse to the school. If anybody is afraid they won’t be able to go because of trouble paying for gas let me know and I will be able to cover you. If you have any questions please call me at (859)-539-5857 or email me at artemus.willey@gmail.com.

We will be installing shade sails over the playground on the Martin Luther King Blvd side of the church. We will also mulching around the playground and painting the shade sails posts.



Please bring a mask, a water bottle, work gloves, shovels, rakes, and garden hoes.
(Lunch and hand sanitizer will be provided.)
(Please dress for appropriate weather.)

We will be installing post and shade sails over the playground on the Martin Luther King Blvd (by breezeway at rear of EB1 Building) side of the church.  We will also be building a garden bed, installing landscaping, weeding and mulching around the playground.

We will be going hiking on Saturday at Shakertown . We will be meeting at the West parking lot at 8:30 am. We will be hiking 3 trails for a total of 10 miles. Please bring plenty of water!

Spring Cleanup and Camp Nelson Flags are cancelled due to COVID guidelines.  We are planning on putting together a work weekend where we have small groups working in different sections of the house or yard or possibly individual family groups working by themselves.

We are still planning on helping install flags at Camp Nelson Cemetery on 05/23/2020 and then taking a five mile hike through Camp Nelson National Monument afterwards.

As of now the Cemetery is still planning on having their flag ceremony, which we have participated in since it's beginning.  Please plan on being at the Cemetery on 05/23/2020 at 7:30 am.  We are typically done with flags by 12 noon.  Afterwards, we will go on a five mile hike through the Camp Nelson Park which winds across the battlefield and down to the Kentucky River Palisades.  Please contact David Sanders with any questions.

We are meeting on Saturday 05/16/2020 at 10:00 am to do some Scout House Spring Cleaning.  Lunch will be provided.  Please bring you mask, gloves, and cleaning supplies.  Bring your family for however long you want.  We will be finishing the Meeting Room painting and decoration, cleaning the basement, and working in the yard.  Plenty of jobs for us to do six feet apart!  Contact David Sanders with any questions.

Hello Troop 98! While we are all sitting at home practicing social distancing, We have decided to try out a virtual Troop meeting tonight. We will be using the video conference platform Zoom. We have a special guest speaker, Who is the Faculconer’s uncle and who is a doctor at the University of Kentucky. It won't be as long as a regular meeting, so if you have a device and you're able to join us, please try to log in a few minutes early so we can get started right at 7:00. If you don't have a device, that's ok. We are going to try and record the meeting so those who can't make it can watch it at a later time. Due to the current state of affairs in KY, and Lexington, and recommendations by the Governor we have decided to postpone all activities of Crew and Troop 98 until the end of the month. This includes all meetings, campouts, and other gatherings. We will reevaluate at the end of the month

Registration paperwork has gone home with your Scout.  The early discount registration date is Monday 03/09/2019.  If your Scout plans on attending Camp McKee this summer please bring your $50.00 deposit to the Scout meeting on Monday night 03/09/2020.  Any questions please see David Sanders or Todd WIlley.

We will be attending Camp McKee June 21-27, 2020 and staying at a new campsite (#7) this year.

Early registration cost $285.00.  $50.00 deposit due 03/09.  You can still register after 03/09 until 04/06 for $10.00 more.  This is charged by Camp McKee.

Campership scholarships are available, but must be turned in ASAP and no later than 04/10/2020.  You must still pay the $50.00 deposit by 03/09/2020.

T-shirt and merit badge class choices must be turned in by 04/10/2020.

Total camp balance must be paid by 05/08/2020.  Your camp cost may be more due to additional fees for some classes.

Scouts older than 13 can also choose to take part in the High Adventure Program that takes place at the same time as our week at Camp McKee.  The would stay with the Troop at night, but be with other older Scouts in the program during the day outside of the camp hiking and rappelling in the Gorge, River Canoeing, Ziplining, etc.  Cost for the High Adventure program is $355.00

New 2019-20 BSA Medical Forms Part A-B-C are required by 06/01/2020.

The Troop and Venture Crew will have a lock-in at the Bluegrass Sportsmen's League Lodge on Friday January 31 until Sunday morning February 2, 2020.  We will be sleeping and cooking indoors at the Lodge building.  Friday night we will be working on a merit badge, playing games, and watching movies.  On Saturday we will be at the General Purpose Range and the Sporting Clay Range most of the day.  Saturday night will be back in lodge for more fun and games before returning home Sunday afternoon.  Cost is $25.00 per person, which includes food, travel, ammo, and clay targets.  Permission slip and fee must be turned in by Monday 01/27 so we can purchase food and ammo for the weekend.  Any questions please contact David Sanders or Mike Foster. 

Please join us on Sunday January 19, 2020 at 2:00 pm for Parker's Eagle Court of Honor.  Ceremonies will be held in the Rosemont Baptist Church Sanctuary.  Eagle Scout is what all of us strive to achieve as Scouts.  Please wear your Class A uniforms and bring all of your family to celebrate Parker's achievement.
